Counselling: Should I or Shouldn’t I?

Do you wonder if you should seek counselling or if you are making a big deal about your issues?  Going to a counsellor DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE BAD,SICK OR CRAZY!!! None of the above! So, my advice is, if in doubt, go………

Going to counselling means you are intelligent and courageous. Intelligent to ask for advice when you feel stuck or alone or depressed or anxious about some issues in your life. Courageous because it is not easy to look at ourselves with honesty.  However, it is the only way to make change……looking with honesty, first step.  Friends and family mean well, but can only do so much. To have a “disinterested party” (therapist) listening with  confidentiality and no judgement is indeed a GREAT RELIEF!

Nowadays almost everyone I know is going to or has gone to a counsellor, 12-step program, anger management program, spiritual weekend retreat, psychiatrist, pastoral counsellor, etc.   There is no longer much stigma attached to going to one of these professionals.  In the 1960′s the world changed in more ways than sex, drugs and rock and roll.  Men and women became more open-minded regarding exploring emotional issues.  Since then, there has been a revolution in the emotional health arena.

SO…DON”T PROCRASTINATE………….get started feeling better now………….just talking to the right person HELPS SO MUCH!
